The Redhawks were looking for revenge when they took on Imperial College Devils in their first game of the tournament. The Devils have been a thorn in Cardiff's side throughout the season, knocking the Redhawks out of the playoffs just before the Easter break. The game looked to be heading for a Redhawks win, until the Devils scored a late equaliser resulting in a 2-2 draw.

Next, the Redhawks took on League Champions Northumbria Flames. The Flames came into the game in full swing, having already played and won 3 matches, and this showed as the Redhawks fell to two early goals. The Redhawks could not come back and the game ended 1-3.

With the draw against Imperial, and the loss to Northumbria, the rest of the competition became a race against the Devils for the better goal difference. It was the Huddersfield Hawks that first felt the wrath of the Redhawks, conceding 10 goals without reply.

The following day saw the Redhawks continue their goal fest with a 4-0 victory over London Dragons B. The Newcastle Wildcats B couldn't hold back the Redhawks either, losing 7-1. But during the game, the Redhawks were assigned a 10 minute misconduct penalty for shooting the puck after the whistle was blown. As table standings are decided on the number of 10 minute penaltes before a teams goal difference, this call moved the Redhwaks below the Devils even though Cardiff had the greater goal difference.

Disheartened, Cardiff went into their last game looking to do as much damage as they could, but could only defeat Birmingham Eagles B 2-0. The Redheawks were left with the hope that Imperial would incur a similar penalty in their last two games. But it was not to be, and so ended another National Championship for Cardiff.
