The group stage saw the Red Hawks facing Northumbria and Sheffield. Cardiff ground out a draw with the Bears before securing their place in the semis with a 3-0 victury over the Flames.

Cardiff had little trouble with Nottingham; with one of only two goals coming from former Red Hawk Sam Penny. Dom Browne ensured victory with an impressive tally of four goals!

Final vs Sheffield

The game opened up with some frantic end to end hockey before Cardiff gradually gained control of the Sheffield zone. Browne scored a vital goal with not long left in the first period allowing Cardiff to go towards the half time break feeling confident.

Sheffield started the second period with a powerplay, but still were unable to create any chances in front of the Cardiff goal. Back to full strength Cardiff resumed the attack. Fraiser Lewis drew a penalty to give Cardiff the man advantage and help them run down the clock. Browne stepped up once more to put the Redhawks up by 2 goals with around 5 minutes remaining. Lawrence Collier made a couple of vital saves as Sheffield attempted to fight back, but with Cardiff playing as if on a 5 man penalty kill, time ran out and the Redhawks were champions.
